Het duurt niet lang meer of televisie op de GSM is in Europa de normaalste zaak van de wereld. De Europese Commissie wil daarom de Europese markt een standaardsysteem opleggen.
De Commissie wil DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting for Handhelds) uitroepen tot unieke Europese standaard. DVB-H is nu al mogelijk op sommige handhelds van Nokia en Motorola. Andere fabrikanten van mobieltjes zullen hier waarschijnlijk tegen protesteren.
